Untitled
Installation with ink-jet prints (size of prints ca. 12” x 18” / 30 x 45 cm), Anderson Ranch Art Center, Colorado, April 2006

This piece explores the alpine winter landscapes of the Rocky Mountains. I placed myself into close-up photographs of ice formations and thus created a phantasy-like environment. The images and texts investigate the verge between real and surreal. A model of a European castle emphasizes the idea of dream or memory, commenting on my European background.

The texts describe my perceptions of this environment and also respond to the local history of Northern Colorado. They include legends of the Ute Indians who used to live on these mountains.

The lines on the walls can be read as an abstracted map or as a silhouette of the region around Aspen, Colorado; where this piece was created.
